The X Files: I Want To Believe... (2008)
HomeChris Carter has been very hush-hush on the second X Files movie (known as 'I Want To Believe'). We know it was due to be released after the X Files TV series finished, however due to legal disputes between the creators of the show and the distributor.. it was delayed for nearly 10 years. Now exactly 10 years after the first film was released - it's back on track, due to be completed for August this year.
I'm slightly concerned because Chris Carter, creator and director has hinted in interviews that this movie will be a standalone film, with less of the mystical conspiracies that made the X Files so popular.
When watching the final X Files, it was clear there was room for a movie, something to wrap up all the loose ends. But this was done rather hastily within the last few episodes of season nine, and although the movie could be an epic struggle for humanities' survival - it now has nowhere to go.
Luckily however, the original cast and crew are at the wheel, so whatever they put on screen - we can be sure it will 'feel' like an X File, and Chris Carter and team have earned the right to stretch their creativity into other realms.
